General Studio Rules
To get tattooed by us, you must be 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with written parental consent.
Government-issued identification may be required to prove age.
Clients must be sober in order to get tattooed. No exceptions.
Please make sure you arrive clean as our artist will be touching you.
After 24-48 hours, remove the bandage and gently wash with warm water and clean hands. Pat-dry with a clean towel. DO NOT RE-BANDAGE.
Apply a thin layer of ointment 3x a day for 2 weeks or until the skin is smooth.
Stay out of the sun until the tattoo is completely healed. This usually takes about 7-10 days.
Do not soak tattoo in water while your new tattoo is healing. Showers are fine.
Do not go in a hot tub or swimming pool, etc. until your tattoo is fully healed.
Do not pick or rub the treated area while it is healing. Loss of colour or infection could occur.
Your tattoo should heal in approximately 2 weeks. Do not hesitate to contact us should you have any problems or questions.
Ink Bar Tattoo Studio is a custom tattoo shop. This means that it is our intention to create a unique and creative design for every client. During a consultation, we ask that you bring any and all reference materials and/or ideas which will help the artist create original custom design just for you!
A deposit is paid after your consultation with our artist to begin work on the design, and to hold an appointment thereafter. Please note that not all tattoos will require a consultation. If you have your own pre-drawn design that you would like to bring, please be open to the possibility that there may need to be some changes made in order for it to become an effectively executed tattoo. We may also offer suggestions to better fit your budget, make it fit your body, and create a unique and meaningful piece of artwork that you will wear on your body!
Please note that Ink Bar Tattoo Studio will not copy other artists works if you do not have permission from the artist for the use of their design.
Our artist works tirelessly in order to create designs that are unique to each and every client. In order to have your artist draw up your design, you must first book an appointment and pay a non-refundable deposit fee of $50. This deposit secures your appointment and the amount will be taken off of your bill upon payment. If you are getting a tattoo that requires multiple sessions, the deposit amount will be taken off of the bill of your final session. Please understand that we are charging for a service; all drawings remain the property of the shop. Deposits are non-refundable.
We require 48 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment. Remembering your appointment is your responsibility. If you do not show up to your appointment or if short notice of a cancellation is given (less than 48 hours), you forfeit your deposit. Please be courteous – our artist has already invested many hours on your behalf.
If you know you are running late to your appointment, please notify the artist to ensure that they will still be able to get you in as there may be appointments scheduled after you. If you are more than 30 minutes late, the artist reserves the right to reschedule your appointment.
Deposits will be forfeited in full in the case of:
Not appearing for your tattoo appointment;
Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment without giving at least 48 hours’ notice;
Failure to reschedule a new appointment at the time of cancelling an appointment;
Arriving to the appointment and not being able to provide the artist with a piece of government-issued identification in the case that you are asked to provide proof of age.
A Note on Hands, Feet, and Necks
On body parts that move a great deal or have extra rough or extra thin skin, the healed images are less predictable than on more stable areas of the body. Many tattoo artists refuse to tattoo these areas for this reason. If you choose to proceed with having the following areas tattooed, you understand that the artist cannot be held responsible for fading or uneven healing. Free touch-ups are exempted from these areas.
Because tattoos are on living bodies and everyone’s body is diverse, it is common that a line may fade or fall out in the healing process. If that situation arises, we offer free touch-ups within 3 months of completion of the tattoo. This is a courtesy extended to our clients to ensure the highest quality of work. We ask that touch-ups are done within this time frame to minimize the level of aging/settling between the older & newer inks in the skin as it will provide a better result. After this 3-month period, our artist will charge for touch-ups at their discretion.
Please note that if you are seeking a touch-up on a tattoo that was not originally completed at Ink Bar Tattoo Studio, regular studio fees will apply.
Touch-ups are not a fix for poor practices during the healing process such as drinking, picking, swimming, sun tanning, or fading due to lifestyle such as heavy-duty work, excessive exposure to the elements and potential contaminants. It is also not an on-going service to keep your tattoo looking “fresh”.
Tattoos are performed in accordance with the highest standards of cleanliness; aftercare is the full responsibility of the client. A healing tattoo is considered to be an open wound and can take up to 3 weeks to heal. During this time, which is fully out of control of the artist, infection may occur as the result of poor aftercare or poor hygiene on the client’s part. This will poorly effect the result of the healed tattoo. In these cases, our artist reserves the right to decide whether or not to charge for touch up services as correcting the damage for which they are not responsible for.
The tattoo must be fully healed before a touch-up can be performed. Touch-ups are not always necessary. The application of the tattoo is the job of the artist but the healing process is fully in the hands of the client once leaving the studio. Proper aftercare of your tattoo can mitigate fading. Please read the aftercare instructions that you are given at the time of your appointment. Feel free to call us if you have any questions. No deposit is required on free touch-up appointments due to the fact that there is no charge given. If you do not show up for this appointment or do not give 48 hours’ notice of a cancellation, you are automatically exempted from receiving another free touch-up session as it is a disregard for the artist’s time.
Please note that it is not the responsibility of the artist to fix or change your tattoo for free because you later change your mind on the design. We cannot be held accountable for client flippancy.
We accept cash, debit, and credit. The amount of your deposit will be taken off of your bill at your final session (if applicable). It’s common practice to tip your artist if you are happy with your tattoo, but is not necessary. Keep in mind that the custom design as well as drawings that are done up are commonly done after hours, unpaid and at home. Some drawings can take many hours to complete as well.
